Want to be part of an exciting research project?

CELF-5 Ad for Facebook and WebsiteWe are looking for children to participate in a research project run by Pearson over the coming months where they are assessed using the new CELF-5 to gather results to obtain normative data. Doing this assessment is free and should take 1.5 – 2 hours and you will receive a gift of $100 worth of books or a $50 movie voucher just for participating (you get to choose which gift you’d like).

To nominate your child to participate in this project, please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CELF5_ANZ_Participant_Nomination to submit your application. Please fill in “Kids Chatter Speech Pathology” when asked where you found out about this project so that children are assigned to the correct clinic.

Who can participate?

  • Children between the ages of 5 years 0 months to 21 years 11 months
  • English must be their primary language
  • They must live in Australia
  • Typically developing children
  • Intellectually gifted children
  • Children with intellectual disabilities
  • Children with a language disorder
  • Children with a specific learning disorder in reading and/or writing
  • Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder with a language disorder

The team at Pearson will determine if your child is required for the project based on the information you supply on the online nomination form and we will contact you in the coming weeks to arrange a time a day for you to come in to our Kenmore clinic to participate with one of our speech pathologists.

About the assessment

The CELF is the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals which is a language assessment that is used all around America, Australia and New Zealand. The 5th edition is currently being finalised and normative data from children around Australia and New Zealand is being collected from April to October 2016, in time for the CELF-5 to be released in Australia in 2017.

Your child will be asked to answer questions through pointing at pictures, giving verbal responses and doing a writing task. All questions and tasks will be age appropriate for your child.

This assessment is for us to gather results to obtain standardised data and to “test the test” and is not to be used for diagnosis of your child’s language skills.

Please help us in sharing this post with your friends to find a variety of children to participate in this project. Feel free to share it with your school and other parents with children between the ages of 5 years to 21 years 11 months.

Please contact us on 0412 602 655 or info@kidschatter.com.au for more information.

We look forward to being part of this exciting project with you!

        Hi Sylvia,

If you haven’t already done so, you can fill in an application for your kids on the link above in the blog as they fit the age groups we need and kids with Autism and ADHD can apply too.
