As a child, Abigail struggled with literacy, which made her dread reading and feel like she was falling behind her classmates. But after receiving literacy intervention, she grew to love reading and always had a towering stack of books at her side. This personal experience sparked her passion for helping children overcome their own challenges and thrive in school.
Abigail has previously worked as an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) in another private practice as well as working as a Personal Care Worker at Hummingbird House, supporting children with life-limiting conditions and disabilities. Her role involved assisting with personal care and facilitating play activities, with a focus on supporting both the child and their family. This experience helped her develop a range of clinical and compassionate skills across palliative care, allied health, and nursing, where she worked alongside Physiotherapists, Music Therapists, and Art Therapists.
Currently studying to become a Speech Language Pathologist, Abigail is on track to graduate at the end of 2025 and looks forward to continuing her work in paediatrics. In the meantime, she’s gaining valuable experience as an AHA while supporting the Kids Chatter team and its clients.
Why Kids Chatter?
“I like working alongside a close-knit team who support each other. As an undergraduate student, I very much enjoyed completing a paediatric placement in a school setting, and I want to gain further experience at Kids Chatter while I finish my studies and beyond.”
When she’s not busy studying at uni or working with kids in the clinic, you’ll find Abigail at the beach with her new puppy, Ellie or spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys pilates and yoga classes at her local gym to keep active.
