Monique always wanted to work with children, but as much as she liked the thought of teaching, she didn’t want to be doing it in front of an entire class. She wanted it to be more personal, working with children in one-on-one settings and in small groups. She has also always had a love for languages and child development, so what better than to use these interests in being a Speech Language Pathologist!
For over 17 years, Monique has worked in private practice, helping children with their speech, language, stuttering, literacy, tongue thrusts, and tongue and lip ties. She’s also worked with children and their teachers in schools and daycare centres, and as a disability support worker.
After working in 3 other practices and gaining a wealth of experience, Monique opened up Kids Chatter Speech Pathology in 2013 as a solo clinician working from home and has since grown it into a clinic with a team of speechies, admin support and the addition of OTs and Psychologists. These days, she focuses on growing and supporting her team to ensure that all Kids Chatter clients receive high-quality, family-friendly service.
Why Kids Chatter?
“I’m a mother of twins and a singleton, so I understand that every family has unique challenges when it comes to their family life and fitting in commitments like speech pathology. My goal was to create a family-friendly clinic that focuses on the child. I want them to become competent individuals who strive both at school and in their everyday lives.
I also wanted to build a clinic where people love to come to work everyday and enjoy not only the work they do with their clients and families, but also want to be part of a lovely team of individuals who are supportive of one another, motivate each other in the workplace and above all, just enjoy each other’s company while we spend our time together at work.”
Outside of work, Monique loves to bake, much to the delight of her husband, son and twin girls. She is also a musician and plays the flute and piano, and she loves to paint at night time to wind down and relax when she’s not working on growing Kids Chatter to provide the best service to her clients and be the best workplace for her team.
**As the Director of Kids Chatter Speech Pathology, Monique is no longer accepting new clients, as she spends her time supporting and mentoring her team.**
