Tahlia always knew that she wanted to work in a career where she could help people, but with so many choices out there, it was just a matter of figuring out how. She has also always loved the written word too, so speech pathology has allowed her to combine her passions of working on language and literacy and helping others. She has a special interest in working with Developmental Language Disorders (DLD), literacy difficulties and speech sound disorders and is a big fan of early intervention, so loves working with Prep and Pre-Prep children in order to set them up to succeed at school.
Prior to joining our Kids Chatter family, Tahlia worked in another private practice where she had a varied caseload including seeing many children under NDIS funding, children with speech sound disorders, language difficulties (both early language and school-aged language) and literacy difficulties, as well as children with ASD. She also worked as an Allied Health Assistant in a mobile private practice for 3 years while studying for her speech pathology degree which gave her a great foundation to our profession before she finished her degree. Her experience in the private practice world has confirmed her love of working with kids and she has enjoyed forming long-term relationships with her clients and their families.
In addition to her speech pathology skills, Tahlia has also completed extra training in the Autism Diagnostic Observations Schedule (ADOS-2) assessment, which enables her to assess for Autism Specturm Disorders across age, developmental level and language skills.
Why Kids Chatter?
“I grew up in the local area so I really wanted to work in and help my own community. I love the focus Kids Chatter had on providing a family-friendly service, as I feel it is important to support the whole family, not just the child. I had also heard wonderful things about their clinicians from others in the industry and wanted to be part of the team.”
In her downtime, Tahlia loves spending time going to markets and cafes, reading and snuggling up on the couch with her dog Nina to watch some Netflix or Disney Plus to catch up on all the latest.
