Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
Tahlia always knew she wanted a career where she could make a genuine difference, but with so many possibilities out there, it was just a matter of finding the right fit. Having always loved language and the written word, speech pathology turned out to be the perfect match, allowing her to combine her passion for communication and literacy with her drive to help others.
She has a special interest in supporting children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), literacy difficulties, and speech sound disorders. She’s also a big believer in the power of early intervention, and loves working with Prep and Pre-Prep children to help set them up for success at school.
Before joining the Kids Chatter family, Tahlia worked in another private practice with a diverse caseload, including many children supported through the NDIS, as well as children with speech, language, and literacy difficulties, and autistic children. She also spent three years working as an Allied Health Assistant in a mobile private practice while studying for her speech pathology degree, giving her a strong, hands-on foundation in the profession even before graduation.
Tahlia has completed advanced training in both the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS), which enables her to assess for autism across a wide range of ages, developmental levels, and communication profiles.
As a neurodivergent clinician herself, Tahlia brings a valuable lived perspective to her work. She is passionate about providing assessments and therapy that are respectful, strengths-based, and affirming of each child’s unique way of thinking and experiencing the world.
Why Kids Chatter?
“I grew up in the local area so I really wanted to work in and help my own community. I love the focus Kids Chatter had on providing a family-friendly service, as I feel it is important to support the whole family, not just the child. I had also heard wonderful things about their clinicians from others in the industry and wanted to be part of the team.”
When she’s not in the clinic, Tahlia can usually be found wandering through markets and cafes, reading a good book, or snuggled up on the couch with her dog, Nina, catching up on the latest Netflix or Disney+ series.
